On the 22nd March Lydia and Karen attended a Harmony Day aimed at sharing stories and cultural customs at Walla Walla Public School. Our Sorbian costumes were well received and the students were happy to hear about the first settlers of Walla and the origins of the Sorbian people.
We screened a short YouTube video on easter egg decorating to the students which explained the intricate Sorbian decoration techniques and how they are achieved. Many of the small schools attended on the day such as Burrumbuttock, Brockelsby, Walbundrie, Gerogery, Rand and Walla Walla. The children had lots of fun decorating pre-dyed eggs using brushes and feathers, which are traditionally used.
It was wonderful to meet and chat with other workshop presenters from the Albury Wodonga Ethnic Communities Council Inc.
